About the Production

The myth says Orpheus loved his wife so much that when she died, he traveled to the underworld to bring her back to life.  But Jacques Offenbach had other ideas for his best-known operetta, lampooning stuffy mythology, contemporary marriage and morals (or lack thereof), the battle of the sexes and political leaders, all at once.  As tuneful as it funny, Orpheus in the Underworld includes the famous Can-Can.  In English.
